Household Acne Cures
Written by beacnefree on July 21st, 2008Acne cures don’t have to be complicated to be effective. In fact, some of the best cures may be found in ordinary household ingredients. There are three areas to consider when treating acne symptoms: killing bacteria on the skin, decreasing the amount of oil on the skin and nourishing the skin.
Killing Bacteria
Acne pimples form when the bacteria on your skin come into contact with the excess sebum. During adolescence, when the hormones are more erratic, the sebaceous glands produce more sebum. Normally, the sebum travels to the skin’s surface and acts as a moisturizer. But too much sebum creates an oily appearance. In addition, bacteria feed off the sebum and thrive on it.
Therefore, when searching for an effective household cure for acne, reach for a bottle of apple cider vinegar. This liquid actually kills the bacteria that cause the pimples. It also reduces the inflammation and helps to balance the skin’s pH levels. Mix one part of the apple cider vinegar with four parts of water. Apply this mixture to your face with cotton balls and let it stay on your skin for at least 10 minutes.
Do you need to get rid of a pimple overnight? Dab it with a small amount of honey and cover it with a band-aid. The redness and irritation will be much less in the morning.
Getting Rid of the Oil
The bacteria that cause acne love the oil on the skin’s surface. In fact, this oily secretion, known as sebum, is nutrition for these skin invaders. To decrease the amount of skin eruptions, try one of these simple household cures for the symptoms of acne.
Mix oatmeal and boiling water to form a paste. Allow this mixture to cool and apply evenly to the skin. Leave it on the skin for at least 5 minutes and then rinse with warm water. Oatmeal is effective in drying up the oil on the skin’s surface and for drawing the oil from the pores. It also gently exfoliates the skin and removes dead cells.
You can mash up some strawberries and add that to the oatmeal mixture as well. Just be sure not to leave this paste on for more than 10 minutes because it has a very drying effect to the skin.
Nourishing the Skin
Once you decrease the bacteria and the oil on the skin’s surface, you will notice a significant reduction in the symptoms of acne. Now, it’s time to nourish and heal your skin. Acne can be very damaging, so it’s important to take some positive steps toward the healing process.
Create a mixture of one egg yolk, a teaspoon of honey and a teaspoon of olive oil. Let this stay on your face for several minutes and gently rinse with warm water. This treatment will help the skin to heal while adding the right touch of moisturizing.
While these household acne cures are effective, they take some time and effort to show results. For a long time people had to choose between the safe and less expensive, but much slower, natural cures and the faster prescription medications with possible harsh side effects.
However, recently a long time acne sufferer has discovered an all natural holistic way to cure acne in as little as 3 days! I thought that sounded way too good to be true, so I decided to a little research. Click here to see the results of my Acne Free in 3 Days Review… Is it a scam or the real deal?
